Leadership Elections 2026 – Results

The Leadership Elections are AUBSUs’ annual democratic exercise to elect the Student Executive Committee that lead Arts University Bournemouth Students’ Union and represent the student voice here at AUB. In this election there were 6 positions available.

  • President Student Union x 1

  • President Student Experience x 1

  • Student Executive Officer x 4

There were no nominations for Student Executive Officer, therefore this position was not put into the election. This position will go into our By-Elections in October 2026.

For these elections we used STV as our method of voting (meaning Single Transferable Voting). Students vote in order of preference. If a candidate does not meet quota in the original first round the candidate with the lowest number of votes is eliminated and their votes are redistributed in order of preference across each round until a candidate is elected.

In this election 381 votes were cast, capturing 10.72% of the voting population.

In the position of President Student Union there were three candidates:

Max Oldridge

Achilles Smith

RON

In Round 1, the quota for the election was 190.50 votes. Max Oldridge received 38 votes, Achilles Smith received 336 votes, RON received 7 votes. Therefore, as Achilles Smith reached quota, Achilles has been elected as President Student Union for the 2026 – 2027 academic year.

In the position of President Student Experience there were two candidates:

Lily Smith

RON

In Round 1, the quota for the election was 170.50 votes. Lily Smith received 323 votes; RON received 18 votes. Therefore, as Lily Smith reached quota, Lily has been elected as President Student Experience for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Lily and Achilles will begin their full time roles on the 1st July 2026.
