With Freshers just around the corner, a big part of the past few weeks has been getting the Union ready for a whole new cohort of students. From planning activities and events to making sure everything is in place behind the scenes, there’s been a lot going on!
One of my favourite parts has been putting together the Freshers Guide. I’ve been working with the union team on the visuals and layout to create something that’s not only useful for incoming students but also feels fun and very AUBSU.
We’ve also been gearing up the SU Instagram with plenty of Freshers content! From event announcements and activity spotlights to showing off this year’s gorgeous Freshers illustration and branding. A huge thank you to Scarlett for creating such an amazing visual identity- AUB students really are so talented, and getting to work with them to bring Freshers to life has been such a privilege.

What I’ve been up to outside of the Union
At the start of the month, I was able to visit home in the US! I was very glad to be reunited with my dogs (and my family) but not so glad to be ruinted with the Kansas summer heat. 0/10 would not recommend as a summer holiday locatin.
With this being my fourth year since moving away from home, I hate to say I’m still not adjusted to the time zone changes lol. In all honestly I’m not sure if I ever will, but it’s worth it to see my loved ones!
The focus now is all things Freshers!
We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to finalise the Freshers events and make sure everything is ready to welcome both new and returning students. There are lots of exciting things in the works, and I can’t wait to see campus come alive again.
As we look ahead to Freshers, I’m excited to get into the different boards and committees I’ll be part of this year, and to start hearing directly from students about the issues that matter to them. I’ll also be working with the University to make sure those student voices are being heard. Alongside this, Lily and I have lots of events planned for the year, so I’m really looking forward to getting started!
If you’ve got ideas, frustrations, or just want to know what’s going on, come and talk to me.
Always open to a chat!
