What is an AGM?
An AGM takes place annually where members of Arts University Bournemouth Students Union meet (e.g. students) to discuss and make decisions regarding the organisation’s activity and future plans providing transparency and accountability. AGMs are a democratic process where students can vote, submit questions/motions, review activity and documents and as a registered charity, we have to hold one.
How does it differ from the Student Assembly?
At AUBSU our AGM is incorporated into our final Student Assembly of the year. Like previous Student Assemblies, the officers will update on their work and the work of the Union and there will be themed discussions on key issues/topics submitted by students and from our elected officers. For this meeting we will be focusing on the Unions activity and onward direction for the next academic year.
Who can attend?
Any AUB student can attend as well as invited members e.g. elected officers, trustees and AUBSU members of staff.
Why should I come?
Not only is this a great opportunity to feed into the work of the Union and our direction and funding for the next academic year but we also will have free Krispy Kreme’s available and other incentives. The Student Assembly and AGM predate our Yard Party (Floral Festival) as well which is taking place 2pm – 6pm. By attending the Student Assembly and AGM you may gain some benefits for the Yard Party e.g. vouchers.

Questions & Motions Form
This form is for students to submit any motions or questions for our upcoming Student Assembly & AGM on Wednesday 13th May 12pm – 2pm.
Questions – Anything you want to ask of the Officers and Student Union Manager (if you could indicate who this is aimed at, we would appreciate it).
Motions – A formal proposal or direction you want the Union to focus on. This could be an idea/something you want to dedicate funding to, a campaign, a stance, a policy change or introduction, an event or something else you want to introduce/change.

NUS UK/NUS Charity
25/26 NUS UK – £7,062.97
25/26 NUS Charity – £2,118.89
This is for our affiliation to NUS which is the National Union of Students. NUS represents University and college students across the UK; promoting and defending student rights; campaigning and lobbying and achieving national change. Our membership fees support these activities, and development and support for students’ unions. This will be decreased for next year due to our block grant reduction.
AUBSUs’ recommendation is we continue with NUS UK/NUS Charity.
Choice Voting
25/26 – £1496.40
This is for our subscription to Choice Voting our elections platform which we deliver our election cycles with. This subscription covers two elections a year, including our Leadership Elections 2026 and ensures our elections are democratic, fair and compliant.
AUBSUs’ recommendation is we continue with Choice Voting.
WonkHE
25/26 – £1397
This is for our subscriptions to WonkHE a consultancy firms that focuses on the higher education policy and providing a platform for diverse voices and perspectives. Their core activities include research and analysis, consultancy and training and development. At AUBSU we receive regular briefings online and through news bulletins as well as support and training.
AUBSUs’ recommendation is we continue with WonkHE.
Coole Insight
25/26 – £6555.72
This is for our subscription to Coole Insight limited, a consultancy that officers tailored sabbatical officer support, training and events. They also provide governance support, senior manager support and networking opportunities.
AUBSUs’ recommendation is we continue with Coole Insight.
Think Tank
25/26 – £7200
This is for our subscription to Think Tank a student voice feedback tool that brings together submitted student feedback and provides data and insights.
AUBSUs’ recommendation is we do not continue with Think Tank as we believe we can reallocate resource and do this in house.
BUCS 25/26
BUCS Subscription – £688
English Universities Sport Affiliation – £356.50
Total = 1044.50
This is for our subscription to BUCS (British Universities Colleges Sport) where AUB students can enter individually to represent AUB at a national level in sporting competitions.
AUBSUs’ recommendation is we continue with BUCS.
Approval of the audited accounts and Trustees Annual Report (TAR)
Each year AUBSUs accounts are audited by Scholfield’s. An audit is an independent examination of financial statements and related records to ensure accuracy, compliance with accounting standards, and to provide an unbiased opinion on the financial position of the organisation. Our bookkeeping is delivered by AUB.

Please note these are for the last financial year 24/25 for approval and have already been approved by our Board of Trustees.
