RON stands for "Re-open nominations”.  This facility enables the student body to raise any questions about the suitability of each candidate.  This would not be on a personal agenda i.e. they do not like the candidate. It would indicate prior knowledge in relation to ethical/moral/legal issues such as criminal convictions and such like.
