We're still supporting volunteer opportunities throughout lockdown. Now more than ever, we want to lend a hand to causes in need!
It's easy to get caught up in our own lives, forgetting that there are lots of important causes that need help. That's why we've created a volunteering module. It's an easy way for you to check out what volunteering opportunities are coming up, tailored to your preferences. What's more is that we've also created a handy way for you to keep track of everything you've done. Just create a profile (don't worry, you can always edit it) and see what you can get involved in!
There's loads of local charities that need help around Bournemouth and Poole. These charities will be uploading volunteering opportunities to the site on a rolling basis so make sure you keep checking in to see what's available. We'll be entering our own stuff like beach cleans and tree planting too!
Volunteering is as good for you as it is for the people that you help. You'll develop skills, gain confidence and have some amazing experiences. There's a whole range of causes to help too, so whether you're passionate about the environment or are a real people person, you'll be able to make a difference.
Go to our Level Up Module then just work through the tabs on the left to get yourself set up. Start by creating a profile, where you can tailor your preferences and availability, and then start browsing the opportunities available. You can then log your hours, review your skills and check out upcoming training courses. Make sure you read our volunteer agreement so you know what is expected of you before you start. It all should be pretty straightforward to work through but we've made a handy guide to help you. Do contact us (either email studentunion@aub.ac.uk or pop into the office) if you need a hand.

Yes! If you put in enough hours over the year, you'll win a volunteering award! Just volunteer 10+ hours for Bronze, 25+ hours for Silver and 50+ hours for Gold. Be sure to log your hours as you go so we can make sure you get the recognition you deserve.
If good causes are something that you're passionate about, why not get involved with RAG (Raising & Giving)? Throughout the year, our RAG team host fundraisers to raise money for charities. From sky-dives to LOST hitchhikes, there's loads of fun activities happening that all take place in the name of charity. Find out more about RAG.
