WHAT IS WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH

Women's History Month is the annual celebration of women’s history, liberation, and successes held every March.

International Women’s Day falls within this month, taking place on March 8th and is a global holiday to commemorate and celebrate women’s achievements and rights, and to reinforce a commitment to women’s equality.

This year, the theme for Women's History Month is ‘Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion’, recognising women throughout the world who understand that, for a positive future, we need to eliminate bias and discrimination entirely from our lives and institutions.

Equity

The road to equality and equity is never easy - it is long, winding and full of those that would impede your progress. Victories are hard-won by inspirational figures, making sacrifices to ensure that the injustices visited upon them do not go unanswered.

Alongside celebrating the women who have made today's world possible, we also asked members of our own team for their stories - we have raw, uneditted testimony of the women that make our Students Union the place it is, as well as any advice they have for women going into the workplace.

Diversity

We want you to feel part of the Community!

Coming to university can throw everything up in the air, especially if you're not local to the area. More often than not, you'll be far from home and far away from your support network at home - it's a story we hear all the time, and it's part of the reason we're here.

University is also a crucial time to network for your future - coursemates, student groups, future colleagues, placements - you're getting your name out there! Norwich is also a great place to look for peer support groups off-campus, helping to make your time away from home that much easier.

Join a Club or a Society.. Find your people, your tribe, your home!
